We live in a world where constant communication is the norm. A world where we don’t have the discipline or the opportunity to switch off and disconnect from it all. When was the last time you didn’t look at your phone for the entire day? When you switched off and just immersed yourself in nature? What was once considered a simple activity is now considered a luxury. The common culprit? Technology. And specifically, our phones. We feel we should be immediately available 24/7, and on top of that we’re stuck in a constant dopamine cycle of addiction and reward. A cycle of instant gratification that we keep feeding without even realizing it. Thank you social media…Don’t get us wrong, we love social media! It’s how we’ve been able to reach millions of people through our work, but it doesn’t go unnoticed that modern technology is affecting our health. It is addicting and it’s engineered that way. What’s even more alarming is that this addiction is keeping us in chronic proximity to something our bodies were never designed to be near. Your phone emits EMFs (Electromagnetic Frequencies) and it’s doing it all day, right against your skin.Did you know that Apple actually writes a warning into the small print of every iPhone ever sold? The phone was tested at just 5mm from the body, roughly the thickness of a coin, and yet most of us carry it directly against our skin in a pocket, a bra strap, or fall asleep with it on the pillow right next to our heads. Shocking, right?! That constant proximity keeps your nervous system in a state of low-grade stimulation, and the phone addiction isn’t just a mental health problem, it’s a physical one.Chronic EMF exposure dehydrates the body on a cellular level, and we see this consistently. Not simply because most people aren’t drinking enough water, but because the quality of what most people drink has been stripped of the minerals the body needs to actually absorb it, and because the tissue itself loses its ability to hold onto hydration under constant electromagnetic stress.Fascia that can’t hold hydration becomes stiff, compressed, and far less able to move fluid and signal through the body the way it’s designed to. The phone in your pocket isn’t just a distraction, it’s changing the environment inside your tissue in ways most people never connect to how they feel day to day.
What this is actually doing to your body Every time a notification lands, your body releases a small hit of cortisol. Not enough to notice in the moment, but enough to keep your nervous system slightly on edge. Do that hundreds of times a day, every day, and your body stops being able to tell the difference between a real threat and a notification. When the nervous system never fully switches off, the fascia never fully releases, and the inflammation just keeps building in the background without you ever being able to pinpoint why. This is why so many people feel wired but exhausted, anxious for no clear reason, and physically tense. The body is responding to a threat that never switches off because the phone never switches off. Think about the last time you sat somewhere beautiful with no phone and nowhere to be. How long did it take for your shoulders to actually drop? For the noise in your head to go quiet? For your breathing to steady? That moment isn’t just relaxation. Your nervous system was coming back down, and your fascia was releasing the grip it didn’t even know it was holding. Most of us have got so used to the phone being there that we’ve stopped noticing what life feels like without it.
What you can do about it The goal here isn’t to throw your phone in the ocean…it’s to give your nervous system and fascia regular breaks from the stimulation, so that the pattern doesn’t become permanent. Try a dopamine detox. One day a week, or even half a day, with no social media, no notifications, no scrolling. Not to punish yourself, but to give your dopamine system a chance to reset. Most people notice within a few hours that they feel calmer, clearer, and more present in their own body than they have in months. Keep your phone off your body when you’re not using it. In a bag rather than a pocket, on a desk rather than in your hand. Even small amounts of distance make a difference to how much EMF your fascia is absorbing throughout the day. Aeroplane mode at night and plugged in on the opposite side of the room. The phone still works as an alarm, but your nervous system and your fascia get at least eight hours to actually recover without being pinged. Remineralise your water. If your body is dealing with cellular dehydration from EMF exposure, the quality of what you drink matters as much as how much you drink. A pinch of good quality sea salt or mineral drops gives the body the electrolytes it needs to actually absorb the hydration rather than passing it straight through. We love InSalted electrolytes. Get your bare feet on the ground. Get your bare feet on the ground. Direct contact with the earth is the oldest nervous system reset there is, and even ten minutes of bare feet on grass or soil begins to discharge what your body has been accumulating all day. Do a Fascial Maneuvers reset at the end of the day. The tension your phone use has been building in your jaw, your neck, your shoulders, and your chest doesn’t have to stay there overnight. A short reset gives it somewhere to go before your body tries to process it in your sleep.Your nervous system was never designed for this level of constant input, and the body keeps the score whether you’re paying attention or not. 15 Minute Full Body Stress Reset: Self-Care Fascial Maneuvers #Fascia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzef2nA9anw
